Starting in 2012, L.A. Chinatown Firecracker will partner with 100 Mile Club®, founded by Kara Lubin to introudce our new pilot after school program to the children in the four schools in Chinatown and surrounding communities.

The Firecracker / 100 Mile Club® program provides the opportunity for children to run or walk 100 miles at school and/or in the community during a single school year and is committed to improving student’s school readiness to learn, creating better educational outcomes, building self-esteem and overall improved health in the lives of children and others. The program is easy to implement, simple to understand and children at any level of physical fitness can participate and achieve success. There is no limit to the number of children who wish to participate and the program can be implemented by teachers, parents or volunteers after an initial orientation.
